New Research for Combination Therapy Being Ignored ? Options

hi Rose,

yes i've emailed Clare explained i'm not to good and she was lovely and said i can go and leave as i please.

i would like to stay and learn as much as i can along with meeting fellow patients,

so as i type i am hoping to go.

Dear all,

As Lyn stated it is a correct method to initially introduce one DMARD (the anchor medication) and then add others if/when it is necessary.

No rheumy will want a patient on a cocktail of meds if it isn't absolutely necessary for their welfare.

When I first agreed to try MTX there was NO way I would have taken anything else- I was on it alone for two years with great success.

I only reluctantly added Hydro and then it's friend SLZ when I had NO choice in the matter.

It is true that the combination therapy us still new to some degree but I would imagine any good sound rheumy will know of this. They certainly all tend to have their favourite meds, they always have done , but much has improved from the 70s and 80s that's for sure!

Suzanne, glad you hope to go tomorrow - enjoy - ThumpUp I have not got an appointment my RA nurse
said she spoke to Specialist and she has no appointments for a good couple months, but the Spec.
hopes to see me first wk in Oct adding me on to the last patient - so I need to wait for the
call now - Wish it was sooner I feel soo frustrated about it all. also see me post on Work - esa help Smile

Dear Rose,

If you feel you must be seen urgently then the GP can arrange an emergency rheumy appointment- the NHS have some policy that they must fulfil this by 7 days.

I feel I need it as all gone on so long now but there are 100's worse off than me
so a difficult decision for me. My GP gone off now also for 2 weeks. - Hopefully
I will get that appointment shortly. Thank you v much. x

Hi Rose

I am so sorry you are having such difficult ongoing problems. If you don't hear back very soon about that appointment early October I think I might be inclined to give PALS a call and see if they can help out. You do seem to have had a lot to put up with and for so long; this really shouldn't be happening, although I appreciate we don't live in an ideal world!

Thinking of you Rose. Hope things improve soon, but please don't be trying to rush back to work when you are not well enough ... long term it will take its toll.

Hi Amanda,

The triple therapy is the newest way to treat RA now. The aim is to aggressively treat it and hope for remission. I have been lucky it worked for me and I was just trying to make others aware there is a choice which not all consultants are giving the options. I sincerely hope all newer patients get this option as I know it is too late for some people who have had RA for many years.

Good luck to all I really hope everyone finds peace from the terrible pain RA causes. Smile
